Andrew Parker is Chairman of Baines Simmons Ltd – he has supported the company closely since 2005 and was appointed to the Board in 2008.

He directs and guides the Board of Baines Simmons and is active in leading the growth and expansion of Baines Simmons strategic and business development service activities.

Andrew has a successful track record of growing small, medium and large sized business and been Chairman to a number of businesses.

Within FTSE 100 companies, he has held senior management responsibilities as Divisional Managing Director, Managing Director, Divisional Finance Director and Group Sales & Marketing Controller for turnovers exceeding £200m.

He has a wealth of professional consulting and training experience working with clients across a variety of sectors. He brings specific expertise in leadership, strategic development, service development, growth development, performance and change management and senior executive coaching.

Keven is passionate about aviation safety and is a co-founder of Baines Simmons. He now leads our work in developing corporate safety management performance improvements with boards and senior management teams in large complex market leading aviation organisations around the world.

Keven's safety expertise and approach has inspired many hundreds of the world’s leading aviation organisations to advance their safety cultures and safety competence to improve overall aviation safety. He has designed and delivered consulting, training and safety implementation programmes for organisations in both civil and military sectors and has trained thousands of safety professionals. He has been a member of many industry working groups for the advancement of human factors in aviation safety management. In 2008 Keven was the proud recipient of the Royal Aeronautical Society Human Factors Practitioners Award.

Career background and experience

Prior to establishing Baines Simmons, Keven was the Deputy Regional Manager of the CAA Regional Office in Hong Kong following a period as a CAA Airworthiness Surveyor at the Heathrow and Gatwick regional offices. As a British Airways Quality Assurance specialist, he was instrumental in the introduction of a Human Factors and Error Management programme into British Airways in the mid-90s. Keven has held various management positions and was a Licensed Aircraft Engineer, beginning his career as an RAF Halton trained aircraft engineer.

He is a creative and technical aviation safety expert who brings his passion, experience and problem-solving strengths to bear across a wide spectrum of client aviation safety-related subjects. He provides insightful strategic and technical leadership support to client regulatory and airworthiness engagements. Bob’s ambition is to design and build world-class products and services that make real positive contributions and impact on aviation safety improvement.

  • Board Safety Trusted Advisor – Bob has worked with several major international airlines and their suppliers advising on both human and airworthiness safety standards.
  • Strategic Consulting for safety improvement, regulatory policy, quality management and technical projects – Bob has managed over 100 successful client projects through his team.
  • Outsourced Managed Services Expert to Authorities in the defence and civil sectors, seeking technical competence, service and cost improvements. Recent projects include building the 7th largest business aircraft registry in the world and the establishment of a competent authority for military compliance approval audits.

Career background and experience

Bob joined the Royal Air Force in 1978 before becoming a civil licensed aircraft maintenance engineer, qualified on a range of Boeing, Airbus and Douglas aircraft. He served as a UK CAA Senior Airworthiness Surveyor with responsibility for Continuing Airworthiness policy and implementation in the UK. He is an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council, sits on the Airworthiness Technical Advisory Committee of the I Mech E and is a trustee of the International Federation of Airworthiness.

Phil is a highly experienced management consulting professional who as well as being passionate about aviation, is driven to make a difference with his clients. Phil leads the Baines Simmons Safety and Risk Management Practice with a group of world-leading experienced practitioners and subject matter experts. Together they lead our work in developing corporate safety management performance improvement programmes with senior management teams of many of the world’s airlines and market-leading aviation organisations.

His work with several world-class consultancies has given Phil a proven and successful track record of leading and delivering significant change for organisations in the Aviation and Defence sectors. He is skilled in translating company strategy into operational initiatives and delivering complex multi-disciplinary programmes of work. As our Safety & Risk Management Director, Phil’s aim is to inspire the world’s leading aviation organisations to advance their safety leadership, capability, compliance, culture and safety competence to improve overall aviation safety.

Phil has held several senior management positions with world-leading consultancies including: Ascend Worldwide, Serco Consulting, IBM Business Consulting Services and PwC Consulting.

Among his former clients are large blue chip private companies such as Alitalia, Garuda, Fujitsu and IBM as well as large public organisations such as the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the MoD.

Phil has 12 years’ experience with British Airways, starting out on the graduate development programme (which involved roles in Airworthiness, aircraft maintenance and Avionics) he then specialised in the delivery of complex capital projects (from TCAS to major cabin modifications). After a three year tour to Seattle to accept aircraft on behalf of BA, he undertook a year-long secondment to Marketing to lead the team developing the next generation of cabin products. He completed his career within BA as Programme Manager delivering a number of complex programmes from fleet sales to VIP reconfigurations.

Phil is a graduate BEng and maintains a private pilot’s licence.

As Head of Client Services he manages our large consulting and training teams to deliver successful client assignments, allocating skilled consultants, utilising effective engagement processes and deploying responsive and efficient scheduling of service to meet our clients technical and logistical needs. Through his specialist consultants and trainers he is fully committed to delivering meaningful and sustainable business impact in every client assignment they undertake. His team consistently receive above 95% good and excellent customer ratings in all training events.

  • Understanding client’s needs and managing client engagements through a team of over 50 consultants, delivering major aviation safety improvement programmes as the client’s trusted partner, change agent, programme manager or subject expert.

Howard has senior operational management and leadership experience in engineering and is a licensed engineer, engineering graduate and chartered engineer. Prior to Baines Simmons he was a Maintenance Manager at British Airways’ long haul maintenance repair facility responsible for the safe and timely maintenance of their wide body fleet.

Career background and experience

Corina has extensive experience in developing, managing and marketing professional training services. She is currently working on her post-graduate in Adult Education and is digital marketing specialist.

Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2009, Corina worked at CAA International, the UK CAA’s commercial arm, as its Training Development Manager. In this role, she was responsible for developing and delivering a catalogue of public access and bespoke training courses aimed at clients from both the regulatory sector and from the wider aviation industry.

Corina has enjoyed a varied career in the corporate training sector, working across a number of industries and collaborating with multinationals on a global basis. Corina’s achievements include:

  • Achievement of ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for quality of training services at CAA International.
  • Management of the development of a competence development programme implemented simultaneously in three international locations for a global outsourcing contact-centre organisation.
  • Development of a bespoke training management information tool which enabled real time reporting for blue chip clients running multiple ongoing training programmes.

Sarah has 20+ years' experience of working as a senior consultant in marketing communications and has a proven track record in devising, managing and implementing award-winning, high profile campaigns across a range of industry sectors including travel, banking & finance and defence.

Sarah's core skills centre on the strategic development and implementation of internal and external communications campaigns and ensuring all stakeholder groups are communicated with effectively.

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Sarah worked as Brand Manager for TUI Travel PLC’s inland waterways holiday business, where she led a major re-branding project. Operationally this involved merging two heritage brands into one market-leading brand across six countries with the visual rebranding of 1000+ boats and 40+ bases. Across the business, Sarah was also responsible for establishing the new brand identity and branding guidelines to a worldwide network of sales & marketing teams, working with the e-commerce team to develop a new website and project managing the production, redesign and re-branding of their 500,000 holiday brochures (produced in 8 languages). The entire project generated cost-savings of over £100k and led to a significant and measureable increase in customer bookings, traffic to the website and brand reputation.

Sarah is currently covering a maternity leave at Baines Simmons and is enjoying the challenge of working with the company during an exciting period of growth and development.

Mike’s early career was with Price Waterhouse Coopers and he is a qualified Fellow Chartered Accountant. He has significant financial and commercial management experience gained in a wide variety of businesses from start-ups, venture capital, through to FTSE 100 companies such as Securicor Plc where he was Divisional Finance Director of the Communications Division – an international business with an annual turnover in excess of £400million.

Chris is a highly experienced aviation safety improvement consultant with 28 years of military and civil expertise. He assists clients to better understand their current and future safety improvement priorities. He is one of our leading regulatory and safety improvement management specialists, offering clients extensive practical advice and understanding of how to implement continuing airworthiness and safety change initiatives into the Airworthiness and Safety sector. Chris has first hand experience supporting safety management and cultural development programmes across major clients such as Qantas, Rolls-Royce, MoD and other world class carriers and MROs.

Chris is a Baines Simmons subject matter specialist for EASA Part-145 and Part-M, Human Factors, Error Management, Just Culture and SMS. Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2003, Chris was engaged in military and civil aircraft maintenance and engineering. He has experience as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in supervisory and management positions within Base and Line Maintenance environments. Chris holds a first class Honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He is a current member of the European Human Factors Advisory Group.

Peter’s career achievements include roles as: Consultant Instructor for Go Fly Limited, Captain at easyJet, Captain with Royal Flight of Oman Helicopter, First Officer and Captain at Bond Helicopters, Royal Navy Officer and Pilot. Peter has delivered type rating and Human Factors training to a wide range of external and internal clients. He also worked at Go Fly Limited on business performance and management support projects.

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Grant worked as a senior Engineer at British Airways, Cardiff as an EASA Category B1/C post holder, working on Boeing 747 and 777 aircraft. He held EASA F4 post holder status. Prior to this, he worked in the Royal Air Force on a variety of differing aircraft types at various global locations. Grant is active in many working groups within the aviation industry, including the Royal Aeronautical Society and CHIRP. Grant’s career achievements include: Registered Incorporated Engineer, Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Licensed Part 66 B1/C aircraft Engineer, Private Pilots Licence, Professional teaching qualification (Cert Ed FE PCET).

Her background is in the field of psychology and as a member of the British Psychological Society, Sarah aims to ensure that its principles are considered within our products and services. She gained her PhD in 2009 from Cranfield University where she was sponsored by Cranfield and the UK Rail, Air and Marine Accident Investigation Branches. Her career experience includes:

  • British Airways Engineering – Development of a proactive safety management system in collaboration with the University of Manchester.
  • Boeing Commercial Airplane Group – Responsible for the continued development and implementation of the Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) tool: the de facto industry tool for investigating error in maintenance.

Steve has led and managed many client safety management diagnostic and consultancy projects across civil and military organisations. He provides specialist advice, guidance and expert recommendations to directors and senior management teams.

Career background and experience

Steve has over 27 years experience in the aviation industry on both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. He was a Senior Trainer and Head of Quality for the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering. He served as an Air Accident Investigator for the Royal Navy. He is a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management, MINSTLM and a Member of the Chartered Quality Institute MCQI CQP.

David adds enormous technical value to clients through his 30 years experience in a range of airworthiness-related roles in the civil air transport industry. David is able to assist clients effectively interpret and adopt the practical application of airworthiness-related regulatory requirements and safety and quality management principles. He specialises in both commercial air transport and private operations working with manufacturers and operators clients such as Boeing, Thomson, TAG and Singapore Airlines. David is the Baines Simmons Senior Subject Matter Leader.

  • Consults on Airworthiness management reviews, diagnostic surveys and reporting to board level. His assignments include clients such as Singapore Airlines, SR Technics, and Club 328.
  • Advises on Airworthiness and organisation approval support to start-up and mature, private and commercial operators, continuous airworthiness management, and maintenance organisations. Provides interim management support services as a Form 4 post holder in approved organisations.

Career background and experience

Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2006, David held various roles working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority, the Air Investigation Branch, manufacturers, operators, and maintenance organisations. He was a previous Deputy Director (Engineering) at Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP).

David has an MSc in Air Transport Management, is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a holder of JAR-FCL Private Pilot Licence (A), and holds a Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.

Career background and experience

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Doug held the position of UK CAA Regional Office Manager (Survey). He was initially Royal Air Force trained. Subsequently, Doug became a UK CAA Part 66 A/B1/C Licensed Aircraft Engineer and worked for a number of UK based airlines as well as extensively overseas, gaining management experience in maintenance production and Quality Assurance. Doug has had a very broad spectrum of aviation experience, particularly fixed/rotary wing operations, and aircraft and component maintenance. He was the CAA Survey Lead in the oversight and maintenance arrangements for the restoration, successful return to flight, and continued operation of the first UK ex-military complex Permit to Fly aircraft, G-VLCN (Vulcan).

A professional safety management aviator, instructor and flight operations consultant with 30 years experience, Chaz advises clients using extensive, practical experience of delivering high-profile and ultra-sensitive aviation capability in risk-laden environments.

  • Consults on performance improvement of aviators. Chaz has deep knowledge of how Human Factors and psychometrics combine to effect decision making in discretionary spaces. His experience includes consulting, facilitated training, mentoring, courseware development, emergency response planning and post incident management.
  • Advises on the integration of evolving manned and unmanned air vehicle flight operations. His experience includes consultancy to aircraft manufacturers and the programme management of state level airspace reorganisation, integrating military and civil flight operations.

Career background and experience

Chaz left the RAF in 2008 after achieving his ambition of commanding a Front-Line flying squadron. His extensive international experience includes authorising and supervising world-wide flight operations of both manned and unmanned aircraft.

Experienced in delicate diplomacy at senior commander, ambassador and ministerial level, Chaz has negotiated policies for integrating differing national requirements to achieve common goals, whilst delivering time critical and politically sensitive operations.

He has a KCL Masters in International Defence Studies, is a qualified CRMI, a psychometric practitioner and an RAF Central Flying School trained Air Instructor. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and a member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.

Tim is a highly skilled and respected airworthiness surveyor with a considerable breadth of experience in dealing with complex compliance and regulatory matters. During his 15 year career with the UK CAA, Tim was involved with a number of high profile working groups mandated to make safety recommendations to the industry’s regulatory governing bodies (EASA) and was also responsible for some of the industry’s most challenging approvals surveys.

He joins our specialist Regulations and Compliance Management Practice as a Senior Consultant where his invaluable regulatory expertise and insight, combined with his broad surveyor experience, will be of major benefit to our clients.

Career background and experience

Tim’s long career with the UK CAA saw him work in many different fields of aviation regulations. He was a member of the specialist working group looking into difficulties arising from duplicate inspections, which resulted in the change to ‘independent’ being taken up by EASA in Part M. His involvement on the In-Flight Entertainment working group also saw the introduction of policy changes, and the publication of an Airworthiness Notice, now CAAIPS leaflet 44-10. He represented the UK CAA on the standardisation teams of the JAA and EASA and was involved with the NPA 2012-17 Part M General Aviation Task Force. Tim is Part 66 B1, light aircraft through helicopters to Boeing 747-400 and A&P licensed and has an honours degree in Aircraft Maintenance.

Jeff has a broad spectrum of aviation experience particularly in the quality environment. He has a Chartered Management Diploma, is a Qualified Lead auditor and Quality Assurance part 7430. He previously held a Part 66 licence and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. Jeff’s experiences include working for 16 years at British Airways, responsible for auditing and maintaining company standards including liaison / review of current/new EASA, FAA and CAA legislation and creation and delivery of an effective and sustainable MEMS programme.

Kevin has over 33 years of aviation experience of which 22 years was with the Fleet Air Arm maintaining helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, followed by 8 years with Westland Helicopters as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer where civil knowledge and experiences supplemented the military knowledge foundation. During this period Kevin was the AgustaWestland QA representative on the SBAC/MoD MAOS working group.

Jeanne has had a distinguished career in the RAF. A former RAF Wing Commander and Engineer Officer, Jeanne was one of the most prominent and influential instigators of Error Management Systems (EMS) into the MOD and was awarded the Commander-in-Chief’s Adrian Ray Memorial Award for making an original, outstanding and practical contribution to Flight Safety.

Jeanne was also recognised by Haddon-Cave QC in The Nimrod Review for researching, promoting and introducing the RAF’s Human Factors (HF) Maintenance EMS, one of the most significant RAF safety initiatives to emerge in decades; this is now a Defence-wide initiative (DAEMS) being implemented with the support of Baines Simmons consultants.

Jeanne now uses her considerable skills and experience of working in the defence sector to design and implement organisation-wide strategic safety management programmes designed to achieve high levels of safety performance.

As the architect behind the pioneering new Station Operations Centre for RAF Wittering, Jeanne was awarded an Air Officer Commanding’s Team Commendation for the successful delivery of the programme. Jeanne was also sponsored by the RAF to complete an MSc in Thermal Power (Gas Turbine Technology) to be the RAF/RN Engineering Authority for Rolls-Royce Pegasus and Adour engines. She was also the first military officer to be invited back to Cranfield to be an External Industrial Examiner on the MSc course.

Jeanne is now in the final year of an MSc in Human Factors and Safety Assessment in Aeronautics (Cranfield University). Jeanne is also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Craig is a highly experienced consulting airworthiness surveyor with over 24 years experience. He is responsible for the management of the highly successful Isle of Man Aircraft Registry that has registered over 400 aircraft. He offers clients a service focussed technical support service that aims to be supportive, flexible and responsive.

He was also responsible for the management and supervisory development programme.

Prior to Baines Simmons Roland has instructed in various locations across Europe, USA, and the Far East, delivering numerous aircraft system courses. His early aviation career was spent in the Royal Air Force, working on a variety of aircraft in supervisory roles world-wide. He was a key member of the RAF Methods of Instruction Squadron.

His early aviation career was spent with British Airways as a technician with regards to B747 heavy maintenance.

Allan holds a degree in Business and Management and a number of educational qualifications including a BEd (Hons), Adult Tutor and NVQ Assessor and Verifier awards. He is also a full member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Felicity studied at Dublin University’s Trinity College Aerospace Psychology Department. Felicity began her career working in a hangar environment at a large multinational MRO, sourcing components for aircraft on check. (FLS Aerospace which later became SR Technics). She successfully co-ordinated the Human Factors programme for SR Technics UK managing a team of 7.Felicity has gained an invaluable insight into the challenges and pressures faced by aircraft operators and all those involved, either directly or indirectly, with keeping an aircraft flying.

He held responsibility for the introduction of the revision to BCAR requirements to align with EASA Part 145 and Part M. He has also been an active contributor to the Airline Risk Management Solutions group, an aviation industry working group that developed the ARMS risk assessment methodology.

As an example, this will involve co-ordinating the production of over 18,000 delegate training materials, course handouts and Consultants’ presentations delivered to UK military aviation personnel involved in the DAEMS (Defence Aviation Error Management System) programme, which Baines Simmons is delivering on behalf of the MAA over a three year period. Her fine attention to detail ensures everything from issuing delegate certificates to responding to enquiries are handled and processed efficiently by the team.

In her administrative role, she has gained an invaluable wealth of customer knowledge that enormously helps clients training activities and logistics run efficiently.

Elaine is an Airworthiness Co-ordination Administrator supporting our managed service contract operations on behalf of the Isle of Man government.

She is responsible for the efficient processing of applications for the issue/renewal/export of Certificate of Airworthiness surveys, this involves liaising with Isle of Man government representatives, applicants and technicians together with our large pool of authorised surveyors to organise surveys on a worldwide basis.

Career background and experience

Prior to joining Baines Simmons Elaine came from a background of solid administrative experience gained from working in the legal profession, SMEs and public service organisations.

Gail is responsible for operating all day-to-day accounting functions, with special focus on purchase ledger related activities. She also provides valuable support to our Financial Controller and Head of Finance in all aspects of the financial services provided for the business.

Career background and experience

Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2012, Gail gained over 4 years of accounting experience working with companies such as Overfinch Bespoke Vehicles and McClaren, whilst also studying for her AAT qualification.

Ursula is responsible for assisting clients with our open training events at our purpose-built Aviation Training Academy. She enjoys working in a busy, customer focused environment and is the central point of contact for all open training administrative and logistical needs, ensuring that courses run smoothly. Ursula’s aim is to ensure that a high level of support is always provided to visiting delegates and training consultants.

Career background and experience

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Ursula co-owned and operated a successful landscaping supply business which she eventually sold. She was heavily involved in all aspects of the business and had the opportunity to develop a wide variety of business and administrative knowledge as well as hone her customer and supplier relationships management skills.
