Attack Helicopter Depth Servicing Unit - UK Defence Forces

The Project

Provision of a bespoke error management program for the Attack Helicopter Depth Servicing Unit (AHDSU).

The Challenge

1. The client needed to evaluate and identify critical areas of business risk and appraise the current cultural behaviours within the organisation at all levels.
2. To develop and deliver a rapid suite of training packages, aimed at management, key staff, staff, nominated Maintenance Error Investigators and Error committee staff.
3. To develop suites of protocols which complimented the current procedures within the organisation.
4. To deliver the above challenges in a limited time scale

The Solution

After extensive consultation with the client, a bespoke package was recommended. The error management diagnostic, cultural assessment, protocol development, error reporting and analysis systems design and bespoke intensive training programme were all delivered into the organisation within a 6-month period.

• The Baines Simmons Error Management Diagnostic tool measured the effectiveness of the existing system and generated a report and presentation to the senior management team. A cultural survey was conducted at local level. Analysis, results and conclusions were fed back to the client.
• Baines Simmons reviewed and reported upon current company policies and designed and developed a suite of procedures that dovetailed into existing company policy documents.
• A bespoke suite of training packages was customised and delivered by a dedicated knowledgeable team of training consultants.

Project Outcome

The project delivered a fully functioning error management programme, generating many more reports and follow up actions that will help manage the organisation more effectively. The measurements of error management before and after illustrated demonstrable improvement benefits.
