In an ever increasingly complex aviation environment, the need to be able to manage safety effectively has never been more important. All service providers, from Air Operators to manufactures and designers, are grappling with what it means to manage aviation safety whilst balancing the commercial needs of their respective businesses. Safety cannot be managed in isolation of the rest of the business if it is to be successful. It needs to sit alongside other critical business functions, serving the business’s aims rather than be considered as burdensome, compliance activity. This is where setting up an effective safety management system is critical. An effective system will not only give you confidence that you are managing your safety risks, and therefore protecting your approval to operate, but it should also provide greater, proactive decision-making power.
How will this course benefit me?

Building on Baines Simmons’ extensive, practical experience of working with organisations to assist with assessing, building and assuring safety management systems, this course provides you with a practical framework to help you and your organisation build, nurture and sustain an effective management system.

 Completing this course will:
  • Provide a starting point to develop a management system that is integrated internally as well as set up for interfacing across approval/contractual boundaries
  • Improve your ability to engage with your Board to promote your safety message
  • Improve your ability to satisfy the Regulator that you are compliant and ready to meet Performance-based Regulations
  • Improve your efficiency through enhanced use of existing safety systems, data and personnel
  • Increase your ability to measure your SMS objectively and be able to make risk-based decisions as a result
