Baines Simmons establishes new aviation safety award
A new award has been launched, entitled the Innovation In Aviation Safety Management Award, that will celebrate the success and recognise the achievements of those organisations at the leading-edge of aviation safety.
The winning entry will be selected by an independent judging panel of aviation safety experts from City University London, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), Military Aviation Authority and the Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP). It will be presented by Mr David Learmount, operations and safety editor at Flightglobal, at the gala dinner that follows the first day of the third European Safety Management Symposium on the evening of 15 May. Taking place at the Marriott London Heathrow Hotel on 15 and 16 May, this prestigious event is once again being hosted by Baines Simmons, the world-leading business for aviation safety improvement consulting.

The Innovation In Aviation Safety Management Award is closely linked to the theme of the 2012 symposium – namely Improving Business Performance Through Effective Safety Management. The award has been created to recognise innovative approaches to aviation safety management that clearly demonstrate the interdependent relationships between the effective application of safety management systems and improved business performance and profitability.
The European Safety Management Symposium is an essential occasion for all professionals in the aviation industry who are involved in safety and aiming to attain maximum value from safety management systems. It will bring together a group of high-profile speakers from the regulators as well as the civil and the military sectors of the industry. The event will also provide a unique opportunity to network with other professionals in the industry who are working towards achieving the highest standards of safety performance through positive safety cultures.
“The European Safety Management Symposium is the perfect occasion to introduce the new Innovation In Aviation Safety Management Award,” states Keven Baines, managing director of Baines Simmons. “We look forward to identifying, sharing and rewarding the achievements of those who, like us, aspire to attain the highest standards of aviation safety.”
