Baines Simmons talk ‘Just Culture’ and ‘Compliance Monitoring’ at CHC Quality & Safety Summit 2017
The three day conference, hosted by helicopter services provider CHC Helicopter, was attended by over 500 delegates and had approximately 100 workshops on various industry topics delivered by experts from across the aviation safety and human factors world.
The presentation from Jeff, showcased some of the recent work that Baines Simmons has been doing around Compliance Monitoring in collaboration with Bristow Helicopters as they discussed the roll out of a safety initiative, Maintenance Process & Practice Monitoring (MPPM), which reviews maintenance ‘work as imagined vs work as done’. Jeff was joined by Tim Rolfe, Director of Safety Standards at Bristow Group, who explained how this programme aims to lead the way in improving and evolving maintenance standards and practice, providing engineering staff the opportunity to engage and define objectives for best practice.
Chris delivered an interesting and engaging workshop on Just Culture, discussing the common challenges of sustainment and buy in. This provided an ideal forum for delegates to discuss real-life experiences and operational challenges surrounding the practice of Just Culture. During the presentation, delegates were asked to complete a short survey on their perspective of how Just Culture was implemented in their operation, which highlighted some thought-provoking issues and interesting debates.
The Baines Simmons presentations were attended by over 160 delegates over the course of the three days in which Chris and Jeff received some excellent feedback.
