Baines Simmons wins tender for 10-year Isle of Man Aircraft Registry Contract
Air Partner’s aviation safety consultancy company, Baines Simmons, has been successful in securing a further 10-year contract to provide aviation support services to the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry (IoMAR).
Baines Simmons has partnered with the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry since its inception in 2007 when founding Director Bob Simmons assisted the first Isle of Man Director of Civil Aviation, Brian Johnson, design, build and launch the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry on behalf of the Isle of Man Government.
- Launched in May 2007, the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry has grown to become the 6th largest international business jet register and the fastest growing aircraft registry in the world
- Since its launch in 2007, Baines Simmons airworthiness surveyors have completed 2,760 aircraft surveys, recommending Certificate of Airworthiness for issue, renewal or export
- A total of 854 aircraft have been registered on the IoMAR, with 467 aircraft active on the register today including private and corporate jets as well as twin-turbine helicopters
- In 2012, a global survey conducted by Corporate Jet Investor among business jet lawyers voted the IoMAR the ‘best aircraft registry’ for its high standards of customer service, innovation and ‘user-friendliness.’
Bob Simmons, Director of Baines Simmons and Programme Director for the Registry, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our very strong partnership with the Registry and to contribute to its future success. We believe our commitment and dedication to the Registry over the past nine years demonstrates the significant commercial and service benefits of outsourcing to the right service provider. We also believe that the impressive accomplishment of the Registry is founded on our shared vision and values of balancing exceptional standards of customer service with the highest standards of independent regulatory oversight.
“The significant contribution of our aircraft surveyor team to ensure the airworthiness of ‘Manx’ registered aircraft should not be underestimated. Travelling around the world, frequently at short notice and working with applicants from different cultures in different time zones, our team works round the clock to consistently deliver an efficient customer-focused service on behalf of the IoMAR. They uphold and practice the ethics and values of the IoMAR, whilst maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and making IoMAR one of the most attractive aviation environments for Business jet registration in the world today.”
Simon Williams, Director of Civil Aviation, said: “The highly specialist contract to provide Aviation Support Services to the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry went out to formal tender in 2015. The Isle of Man Government’s Treasury led a rigorous process which saw the numerous companies who submitted a tender undergo a very detailed, thorough and objective assessment. Baines Simmons is to be congratulated for their successful tender following months of hard work. The team at the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry very much looks forward to continuing to work with Baines Simmons and to building on our highly successful strategic partnership. Formal confirmation of the Treasury decision provides an excellent opportunity to continue to build the Isle of Man aviation sector which in turn will make a significant contribution to the Island economy.”
