Growth of Consultant base over recent months
We continue to grow our Consultancy Team and breadth of knowledge having appointed 4 new Consultants in recent months.
Mike Newman has over 17 years’ experience in aviation and provides Human Factors and Error Management expertise in civil, military and recreational aviation domains. His areas of expertise include training and facilitation skills in Human Factors, Error Management, Incident and Maintenance Error Investigation. He applies his expertise in analysis of maintenance error taxonomy data and maintenance personnel in order to identify error trends and performance influencing factors. Mike began his career in aircraft maintenance working on numerous fixed and rotary wing flight deck human performance research projects. He has also undertaken extensive research on maintenance error.
Mike supports the Human Factors & Error Management and Safety Management elements of the Baines Simmons portfolio, helping to drive the enhancement of the products and services in this area.
John Elkin has over 37 years’ experience in the aviation industry and is a very practiced Airworthiness Manager in both the UK civil and military operations. He uses his broad technical and diagnostic skills, together with commercial understanding, to help clients understand how they can best meet the intent of regulation while improving their airworthiness and maintenance performance. John is very experienced in the practical application of Part M and Part 145, together with the MAA RA4000 series of regulations, and has worked in CAMO and maintenance roles with large fixed wing turboprop and jet aircraft as well as military fast jets and helicopters. John heads up the Continuing Airworthiness portfolio and takes a lead role in the development, delivery and evolution of the Baines Simmons products and services in this area
Lauren Powell began her aviation career in logistics with a large commercial airline before moving to a technical records and part-M role. From there she worked as an Airworthiness Consultant within a business jet company. More recently Lauren has been managing the Scottish Air Ambulance fleet, providing guidance and support to senior management while remaining in communications with the engineering part-145 functions. Lauren has extensive knowledge of continuing Airworthiness regulations which, when coupled with her earlier career within an engineering environment, provides her with a thorough understanding across the fundamental continuing Airworthiness domains. Lauren delivers Baines Simmons Continuing Airworthiness training, including the value-add CAMO pathway and associated titles
Tim Jupp has vast experience as a military engineering specialist practitioner and manager. His wide-ranging experience includes maintenance practice, continuing airworthiness, quality assurance/compliance and regulatory management. He is an accomplished technical author especially with Part M and Part 145 regulations, including supporting AMC and GM, CAMEs, MOEs. He is also a trusted senior management advisor on key technical issues including Continuing Airworthiness, Regulatory and compliance requirements as well as interpretation and implementation of new and revised maintenance policy. Tim supports the Consulting and Managed Services part of our portfolio, particularly in regard to approval application support and policy development.
