New Academy raises the bar in aviation safety training

A new training facility specialising in aviation safety and airworthiness training will be opened this November by Baines Simmons. The Aviation Safety Academy, which will be based at Fairoaks Airport, will be the UK’s first dedicated training centre where aviation experts can immerse themselves in professional aviation learning.

Aviation safety training academyThe £1/2 million Academy will feature two state-of-the-art classrooms, as well as an on-site library, and it is the only independent facility of its kind in the UK aviation safety industry. It will offer a range of over 50 courses covering a broad spectrum of regulatory and safety management themes, from EASA regulations to Safety Management Systems. Each course is tailored to the specific needs of people in a range of roles, from logistics staff to quality auditors or aviation industry managing directors.

A number of industry experts have been recruited to join the Academy staff, including Corina Canavan, former Training Manager for CAA International, who will head the project team. All courses will be delivered by Baines Simmons’ own trained staff, so the highest standards are maintained. The facility will be EASA and MIL Part 147 compliant, which means it meets the most stringent European training requirements, making it unique in the UK industry.

The Academy will offer a stimulating and specialised environment in which to learn, as Baines Simmons managing director Keven Baines explains: ‘Being based at an airport, and with a library of key documents and data on hand, the Academy is a real centre of excellence that allows delegates to focus on their subject.’ It is ideal for medium sized or smaller businesses that don’t have their own in-house training department, as well as larger organisations looking for good value and high quality specialised training programmes. ‘People coming to the Academy will know that they are investing in what matters most – a high quality course delivered by experienced professionals.’
