TS08 | 1 day | Grade: Practitioner
Aviation managers and leaders are required to demonstrate competence which includes the application and understanding of Human Factors and Human Performance issues, but what does that mean to the organisation and how can that knowledge deliver improved Safety Performance and, ultimately, enhanced Operational Performance?
This course is designed to explore and expand the managers’ personal knowledge of the key Human Factors and Human Performance issues pertinent to their area of responsibility and explore how they can support the improved performance of those elements.
The interactive workshop approach will seek to support your management team in the identification and mitigation of ‘Human in the System’ threats, support the development of a competency pathway for the organisation and turn your Safety Training from a ‘tick-box’ exercise into a programme that delivers a fundamental shift in your employees’ attitudes and behaviour.
Delivered exclusively for your company
How will this course benefit me? Safety Training including Human Factors is an emergent requirement in SMS into airworthiness organisations and as such organisations will be seeking to understand what this might mean to them and how they maximise the benefit of this training.
The course will allow delegates to support the SMS effectively by exploring and expanding their own knowledge while developing a competency pathway for the organisation.
It considers the strengths and limitations of human performance, as well as the principles behind human factors and error management which can serve as a major asset in helping you to reduce human error and improve your organisation’s resilience to it. As a result: improving safety levels, reducing time spent on rework, improving systems efficiency, and ultimately improving the bottom-line performance of employees.

Frequently asked questions
Q. I had some Human Factors training a few years ago – do I need more training, and if so will this course be suitable?
A. If your previous training was more than two years ago, you will need to attend further training to comply with AMC 2 EU Part 145 A.30. (e). For this we would recommend our two-day Human Factors and Error Management Course (TS07). If your previous training was less than two years ago, we would recommend this one-day course which reflects the latest thinking and will give you a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
Q. Does this course address all required topics as detailed in EU Part 145.A.30 (e), or are some topics missing?
A. The course can be tailored in-company to ensure that it meets all regulatory requirements, including the required topics. However due to the diverse range of organisations that attend the Baines Simmons academy, organisation specific HF issues and quality audit findings cannot be covered, nor can feedback be passed back to quality departments. Consequently, attendees of academy courses will require in-house training in these areas when they return to their companies or as part of their pre-course training
