Career background and experience
Duaneās early career was as a commissioned Officer in the South African Air Force, where he represented the Military Airworthiness Board. Duane was later the Principal Safety and Certification Engineer at Marshall Aerospace in Cambridge, where he played a key role in the company obtaining Part 21J Design Organisation Approval. He has acted as Technical Support Manager for HIOS (Hercules Integrated Operation Support), responsible for a post-design support team (x60) for the provision of technical advice to the RAF C130 IPT. More recently, he has operated as an interim manager, serving as Head of Safety Engineering (Air, Land, and Sea) for BAE Systems (Australia), where he proposed a corporate-wide Safety Management System (SMS) and redefined and integrated the engineering SMS.
