With over 15 Years Aerodrome and Safety Management Experience, Ben has supported organisations in Aerodrome Operations and Safety Management Systems all over the world.

Expertise and Capability

Ben has extensive knowledge in SMS and has worked with many organisations in driving improved SMS performance, process and driving safety culture. As a demonstratable leader within UK Airports, Ben has led Safety strategy and change, influencing both CAA and HSE Safety regulation and legislation within organisations and on a nationwide scale, Ben holds a comprehensive knowledge in both Safety, investigatory and Risk Practices, working with several organisations to reduce risk and generate defined safety outputs.

In addition to his extensive experience in Leading on Aviation Safety Management Systems, Ben has a wealth of experience within Health and Safety, holding his NEBOSH General Certificate and currently finishing off his NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.

Also, an experienced auditor, Ben has expertise in Implementing Risk Based Oversight Programmes to support regulatory compliance as well as leading on Investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

Previous Work Experience

Ben’s aviation career started at Gatwick Airport in 2008 where he experienced operational roles including Airport Security and Airfield Performance ahead of finding his passion for aviation safety, working within the Airfield Operations Team, conducting Aircraft Marshalling, Aerodrome Inspections/Operations and Wildlife Management.

Ben then went onto working for an SMS software provider, implementing SMS to aviation organisations worldwide. In total Ben led over 40 implementations to NAA’s/AOC’s/MRO’s/Aerodromes and ANSP’s across the globe.

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Ben was Head of Safety and Compliance at London Biggin Hill Airport, leading the Safety and Compliance Department in influencing safety management across not only its internal departments, but also all operators based at the Aerodrome.
