Baines Simmons, part of the Services Division of global aviation services group, Air Partner, has launched a bespoke cabin crew safety programme service for airlines, as increased recruitment of cabin crew teams has led to significant growth in demand for operations safety training. The programme will help to fill gaps in training resource, after in-house training teams were downsized during the pandemic, by providing interim skilled cabin crew safety trainers as and when needed.
After more than a year of changing travel restrictions and reduced demand for business and leisure travel, airlines have seen demand for travel resume and have needed to recruit and train cabin crew members quickly. Large airlines such as easyJet have been actively recruiting for seasonal cabin crew roles for the summer in 2022, with as many as 1,500 open positions in the UK[1]. Additionally, airlines have seen a backlog in training due to the closure of training centres during the pandemic, which means that training must be delivered quickly now to ensure that cabin crews are prepared.
Baines Simmons are trusted advisors with over 20 years of experience in providing aviation safety expertise and training. Providing interim cabin crew trainers, enables airlines to roll out training in a flexible and efficient way, reassured that crew training is being delivered with the greatest confidence. Every cabin crew trainer provided by Baines Simmons is quality assured to the highest standard and their ongoing competence is monitored.
The services and training can be completely tailored to suit the needs of the cabin crew training requirements, by adjusting the number of trainers it supplies based on requirements. Baines Simmons can support teams on a global scale at training centres worldwide. The programme also is less costly than employing dedicated resource within training teams, allowing businesses to draw on resource as and when needed.
Baines Simmons will deliver training across several key areas of operational safety:
Attestation training – The attestation of initial cabin crew is the initial safety training recognised and approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority as well as EASA. Baines Simmons’ skilled trainers will roll out training on your materials at the nearest dedicated training centre.
Operators Conversion Course (OCC) – OCC trainers can be provided at short notice, to ensure that any newly recruited cabin crew are ready for service at the earliest possible date.
Recurrent Training – Should teams have requirements for ongoing recurrent training to ensure competence of crew, Baines Simmons’ interim trainers can be available to meet with any requirements.
Commenting on the launch of the programme, Ian Holder, Managing Director, Baines Simmons said:
“We are excited to be launching this programme at a critical time for airlines and their cabin crews, helping businesses to address training and safety needs in preparation for a ramp-up in operations. It is essential that aviation businesses can access ongoing training resource as and when needed, and we have a strong team of experts that can work closely and flexibly with cabin crew teams.”
