Technical services roles are the engine room of continuing airworthiness management. The ability to efficiently and accurately translate complex technical instructions and requirements into the CAMO environment is a critical competency if you are to deliver organisational compliance and safety.

Historically however, there has been no structured training for performing the technical CAMO roles. Learning across the industry has been ‘on-the-job’ from more experienced (but not necessarily more competent) staff which has led to good and bad habits and perceptions, and inconsistent standards.

Offering a pathway from our foundation regulation courses, this course focuses on the intent of the technical services function and results in a deep understanding of the roles required to deliver a key piece of the Airworthiness jigsaw.

How will this course benefit me?

This course is designed to meet the needs of staff and organisations who want to implement a proactive approach to delivering a consistently robust approach to assessing and processing technical information such as AD’s SB’s repairs and other ICA’s. Through examining industry best practice, the course will provide you with knowledge and techniques you need in order to promote greater efficiency in the continuing airworthiness management and maintenance environments, ultimately improving safety.

Is this course right for me?

This specialised course is designed for those working in the planning functions in EASA Part-M and Part-145 organisations, including:

  • Existing technical services staff in Part-M organisations such as Airworthiness Engineers, Technical
  • Services Engineers and Fleet Engineers
  • Managers / supervisors in Part-M and Part-145 organisations such as Technical Services Managers and Continuing Airworthiness Managers
  • Certifying staff in Part-145 organisations


This course would also benefit:

  • Staff new to the Technical Services function, either graduates, new starters or staff moving into the CAMO organisations from the Maintenance Organisations
  • Continuing Airworthiness Managers
  • Compliance Monitoring staff


You will need to be experienced in CAMO roles, with an understanding of Part-M and Part-145 regulations, and also be familiar with Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, maintenance manuals and other technical data. Experience in Part-21 activities is desirable, but not essential.

Course details
Course format: The course will follow the concept of facilitation as opposed to instruction. It is a balanced mix of PowerPoint Presentations and challenging interactive exercises.
Course level: Practitioner Level Training (P) is suitable for those who have worked in the subject for some time, are familiar with core terminologies and concepts and are looking to develop or update their level of knowledge and practical understanding.
Assessment process: No formal assessment. Formative feedback is provided by the facilitator.
Course size: 12 persons maximum at our Aviation Safety Academy or on-site at your facility

I am a graduate looking to work in tech services. Is this course suitable?

Yes, as long as you understand the requirements from the regulations in Part-M and Part145, you will be able to pick up and understand how to effectively assess the range of documentation and regulatory requirements to define the work requirements in the CAMO. If you are working alongside experienced competent staff, you will be able to gain good understanding and skills from this course.

I work in an AMO and want to move to tech services. Do I need any other form of training other than this course?

This course will enable you to better understand how technical services staff assess all the required documentation from OEMs and regulators to define the work detail required. Your experience in the 145 environment gives you a good foot-up into the CAMO world where your practical experience will enable you to understand the intent of the requirements. We would advise that you attend our “EASA Part M - Understanding the Management of Continuing Airworthiness” course (Code TR03) if you are new to a CAMO environment.

My team of fleet engineers is looking after increasingly complex fleets with expanding numbers of aircraft to manage. Is this course going to benefit them and ultimately my CAMO?
